About Bokwa Fitness
BOKWA, is a trademarked name and workout that is derived from a combination of two words. "BO" represents the light boxing and "KWA" representing the cultural and traditional dance Kwaito, hence, BOKWA is born.
It is an intense cardiovascular workout combined with South African war dance, Capoeira, Kickboxing and Steps. It has been proven to burn a great amount of calories making it easier for weight loss goals. Through the use of fast paced extreme movement, a fun, challenging, and energizing total body workout was created.
BOKWA is a very unique dance fitness program due to the use of letters and numbers as placement combined with use of hand signals and American Sign Language. It is refreshing and builds strength and endurance driven by the pulsating rhythmic beats of African, Latin, Popular dance and House music. Bokwa is an innovative dance fitness program that is an abundance of fun and does NOT feel like a workout!!!!
Who created bokwa?
Bokwa is the brainchild of Dancer and Certified Fitness Instructor Paul Mavi.
Established in 2000, Paul's passion for his South African roots, dance and fitness were integrated to create a fun workout program that improved the quality of life for auditory, kinesthetic and visual learners. BOKWA ® is a participant-driven wellness program created to help prevent and fight childhood and adult diseases and disabilities in a fun, efficient and safe way.
BOKWA ® is committed to educating Dance and Fitness professionals in both theoretical and practical applications based on scientific research, guidelines and standards developed by the major health, fitness and dance organizations.
BOKWA ® instructor trainings are beyond just being a great performer and instructor. It's the continuous personal development in advance knowledge and skills in exercise science, dance, fitness and teaching methodologies to become a fitness and dance educator.

Q: How fit do you need to be to do Bokwa?
A: Bokwa classes are generally suitable for all levels of fitness. You decide how much you put into each class and you can take a break at any time.
Q: What should I wear to a Bokwa Class?
A: Gym clothes and trainers is fine, anything light and comfortable. There is official UK Bokwa clothing available, but this isn't compulsory.
Q: Do I need to have a dance partner?
A: No, you workout as individuals in the same way as you would an aerobics class.
